Thank You for Your Gracious

On Sunday, January 30, 2011 we collected $995.00. We
thank you for your generous gifts. All of the monies given to the PSM are used for the tangible needs of parishioners and the community. Praying to be good stewards and to use the gift of discernment, your donations are carefully monitored. Every applicant that is in need is treated with respect and
dignity. The information given is kept in the
strictest of confidence.

 

Following are some examples on how your donations were distributed to those in need in the year 2010:
• Donation of $250 was given to the Plum Food Bank
• Donation of $250 was given to the Penn Hills Association
• Donation of $630 was given for payment of the parish's
CPR Class in June of 2010. Twenty one staff members,
teachers and parishioners benefited from this course. Miss
Jane Tarr, the Religious Education Director had the
opportunity to use this precious gift of CPR and saved a
friend in distresse
• Distributed $300 in food certificates to those in need
• Donated $150 to the Angel Tree Fund
• Assisted nine families in need of rental assistance to avoid
evictions
• Assisted nine families in need of payment for the light
bills to avoid utility shut offs
• Assisted three families in need of payment for the auto
insurance to avoid cancellation
• Assisted three persons in need of clothing
• Assisted two families in need of payment for the gas bills
to avoid termination
• Assisted two families in need of payment for the cable
bills to avoid phone, television and internet shut off
• Assisted one person with the cost of a couple physical
therapy sessions
• Assisted two people in need of gasoline for transportation
• Provided a stove and a refrigerator to a family in need
Many of the above parishioners and neighbors were given
several referrals to agencies that would offer longer term
assistance.

 

Thank you for allowing us to serve the "least of our
brothers and sisters." Thank you for your prayers and donations to the Parish Social Ministry. "Love each other as if your life depended upon it. Be quick to give a meal to the hungry, a bed to the homeless. Be generous with the different things God gave you." 1 Peter 3: 8b-10
