Pre-Cana Program Pre-Cana is a preparation program for engaged couples anticipating the reception of the sacrament of matrimony. Married couples belonging to St. John's parish volunteer to give presentations on pre-selected topics to those couples preparing for marriage. This workshop takes place on a Friday evening and all day Saturday. The workshop is held in the spring and fall at St. Johns. It is open to all engaged couples anticipating marriage and is a requisite of the Catholic Church. Q: What skills and talents are needed? A: Ability to speak before twenty or so people - you need not be a great public speaker - it's better to speak from the heart and experience of married life pertaining to the chosen topic. Extra meterial on a given topic is available and necessary preparation is provided previous to the workshop.
Q: What is the time commitment? A: Pre-Cana is offered twice a year, spring and fall. The workshop begins Friday evening 7:30 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. and continues Saturday from 9:00 A.M. until 3:00 P.M.
Q: How does this ministry affect others? A: Witnessing to others is invaluable in reflecting on one's own lifestyle; and the married couples have found strength in doing so. The engaged couple's evaluation of the workshop has been positive overall. The presentations and materials given to them are an excellent help for their future married life.
